What is the therapeutic effect of an aquarium in the workplace?

In the summer and autumn of 2019, we teamed up with an award-winning digital marketing agency in Birmingham, where we investigated the potential impact of looking into an aquarium for 10 minutes during the typical working day of junior and senior employees working in a high-pressure business environment.

The findings were really interesting…

The results from the study show that looking into a planted aquarium for 10 minutes leads to an average drop in blood pressure by 15.6 % and an average drop in heart rate by 3%.

- All 13 disclosed a feeling of calm and reduced anxiety after the therapy.
- 5 participants said they felt sleepy during the session.
- 8 participants said they felt more awake after their session.
- 4 participants reported an improvement

Aquarium Therapy

Callum Walker is a nutritionist and diet expert that specializes in working with high-performance athletes and business executives. 

His work involves creating nutritional plans and strategies for weight loss, muscle growth and body composition using sustainable scientific methods  to improve the wellbeing and maximize the performance of employees working in medium to large SME's and corporates. 

In this episode, Callum will talk to Akil about his experience transfering from being a sports professional to a nutritionist working with sports professionals and how eventually he found himself working with businesses to improve their approach to employee wellbeing and company culture.  

Akil will also be aquascpaing a biosphere (planted fishbowl) using a low tech no filter method introduced by George Farmer (Link below)
